In continuation of our 25th Anniversary exhibition series at The Glass Station, we are thrilled represent an exhibition encompassing the full scope of Randi Solin’s practice as a contemporary glassblower and sculptor.

Refractions of Nature presents a series of sculptural works by Randi Solin that explore transformation through light, form, and perception. Like light refracted through a lens, Solin’s glass sculptures bend her inspiration and experience into new visual expressions that are subtle, layered, and complex.

Each piece serves as both object and aperture, inviting viewers to bring their own perspective to the act of looking. Through this exchange, personal experience is focused or diffused—recognizable, yet altered. In this shifting space between clarity and distortion, Solin’s work offers an invitation to see differently, to reconsider, and perhaps to glimpse the self from another angle.

Randi Solin uses glass like a contemporary abstract expressionist painter, dazzling collectors and colleagues alike with her exceptional technique, skill, and highly inventive coloration style. The recipient of many Best in Show, Best of Glass, and, most recently, a Lifetime Achievement award, her work has been acquired by the permanent collections of The White House, The United States Embassies in Algeria, Guinea, Cape Verde, Paraguay, Guatemala, Benin, and many museums and galleries nationwide.

Incorporating techniques found in both Venetian glassblowing and the American Art Glass Movement, Solin's coloration process is complex and varied, using layer upon layer of glass in all particle sizes, and often incorporating sheets of fine silver foil, or a hand "drawing" in black glass cane.

Solin earned a B.F.A. from the New York College of Ceramics at Alfred University, New York, and established her first glass studio in Northern California 1995. She has worked in Southern Vermont since 1998. Solin creates her signature glass artwork in her studio at Fire Arts Vermont, located on the West River in Brattleboro, Vermont.
