While Venetian glassblowers in the 17th century were developing their goblet-making techniques, they tended to make similar styles of stems--the dragon stem showcasing the epitome of their skills. When Venetian-style glass was revived in the 19th century, glassmakers took the opportunity to add their own trademarks to the style, creating stems that were far more varied than earlier goblets. This Block Island Float goblet could only have been made by one man: Eben Horton. The miniature float stem is adorned with 24k gold leaf and a tiny stamp of Block Island. It's a tiny copy of the original Float #1 from 2011. This goblet also features a traditional blown foot with a turned under edge, which makes an otherwise thin, delicate foot stronger. This labor-intensive goblet was created over several days and finished on May 28, 2024. It measures 5 1/2 tall and 5" wide. It comes in a custom-made wooden box to help protect it when it is not in use or displayed.
